Dermatologists Recommend These Amazing Ways Of Using a Pumice Stone Correctly

Dermatologists state that a pumice stone works as a natural exfoliant for the skin. It has been used by humans for centuries, and the tradition of using a pumice stone dates back as far back as 100 B.C.E!

Especially for areas like feet, it’s the only natural exfoliant that can scrub off all the dead skin and calluses effectively. And not just that, it can also make your feet feel like butte—super silky and smooth.

We have all read, and maybe even experienced first-hand, that using a pumice stone on a regular basis can avoid a massive buildup of dreadful-looking skin. However, despite this knowledge, do we know how to use this stone in the correct way?

If that question intrigues you, we recommend that you stick around till the end to find out the answer.

What Exactly is A Pumice Stone?

A pumice stone is formed by a combination of water and lava, which is used as a natural exfoliant. It is best known for getting rid of dry rough patches and dead skin that end up accumulating around elbows, toes, knees, etc. Proper and regular use of a pumice stone promises softer and supple-looking skin.

Pumice stones come in all shapes and sizes, and some of them come with an attached handle or band which makes it even easier to use them on various surfaces on a daily basis. Pro tip: you shouldn’t be too aggressive on your feet or any body part while using a pumice stone, or else you’ll end up bruising yourself.

The Right Way to Use a Pumice Stone

You’re not supposed to simply pick a pumice stone and go all-out while scrubbing your feet! The right way to use it is by dipping your feet in warm, soapy water for about 10-15 minutes and then dipping the stone in normal running water before rubbing your feet gently. Make sure to scrub the problem areas lightly so as not not damage your soles.

Once you’re done exfoliating, dry your feet by patting them with a clean cloth, and for even better results, apply a moisturizing foot cream afterward if having extremely soft feet is your end goal

Point to remember

After using the pumice stone, it’s also mandatory to store it in a clean and moisture-free environment. These natural exfoliants are very porous in nature and can easily accumulate dirt and bacteria if not cleaned or stored properly. Therefore, it’s also essential to cleanse the stone properly once you’re done using it.
